Newwork Magazine

Every once in a while, I need to buy a new magazine. And most of the time, I only buy it to put it on my pile of 'I-am-going-to-read-it-when-I-have-the-time-for-it'-magazines.
I buy most of my 'zines at Athenaeum , located on my favorite square in the city, 't Spui. It's the best magazine shop in the city. Perhaps even the best of The Netherlands.

Newwork Magazine is the most beautiful designed magazine I've seen in a long, long time. And all because of the whole Black & White look. Every page can be used as a poster as well...how cool is that!? The Graphic Design and Photography articles in the latest issue (#4) are just amazingly cool! Take a look yourself:

Albert Watson (photographer)

Werner Jeker (graphic designer and know for his Swiss Poster designs...)

Werner Jeker
His posters motivate me to experiment some more in photoshop with photography images.

Cover issue 4.

Julia Abram Wainwright (photographer)

And last...but definitely not least...my new hero:

Wolfgang Weingart (Graphic Designer / Typographer) (click on the name to see a blogpost about this guy by Brooklyn based Graphic Design Studio Rational Beauty)

Unfortunately...this magazine isn't available in The Netherlands. No, not even at Athenaeum.
So, to all my foreign readers, if this magazine is available in your country...could you please send me a copy? I am willing to pay for the shipping costs.

Hm, I doubt I have ever seen that magazine but if I do come across it I will definitely help you out.
It looks so beautiful. I love zines that keep away from the mainstream. As addicting as mainstream stuff can be at times, I find things that have a different vibe tend to be even better.

Omdat een IPhone best duur is een blackberry minstens even mooi:). Gaaf tijdschrift trouwens, mocht ik het van de zomer ergens tegenkomen en deze post niet vergeten zijn, zal ik een exemplaar voor je meenemen!

I have a 'I-am-going-to-read-it-when-I-have-the-time-for-it' magazine pile as well.
The sad thing is though, I do have the time for it.
Great blog x

p.s. i haven't been to your blog in a while. i love all of the new art that you're including. it's cool to get a little glimpse into the amsterdam art scene.

also, the sartorialist book is worth getting! there's a lot of really interesting commentary. i feel like you really get into schuman's head.

Hi Jack, it's Jill, I was trying to do a 'spring cleaning' of my way too long blog roll & discovered this post. By weird coincidence we were just @ the Saatchi Gallery (London) bookshop today, buying art magazines. I'm not sure if Newwork Magazine was there but it sounds familiar, if I find it I'll let you know.

Have you ever seen a graphic design magazine called Graphis? It used to be the definitive graphic magazine - I think it was Swiss - but haven't seen it for years.

Were we meant to do a blog swap? Do you want to check mine & see if you like it?

Another funny coincidence: daisychain is one of my blog-friends.
