From 2010 to 2011
4 days left until the new year. 2010 will never come back! Neverrr!
Many years ago, people thought we would 'drive' in flying cars in the year 2000. Not uh! It's never gonna happen. Not even in the year 3011.
Perhaps we have been encountered by a new species by then. And they will probably take over our beautiful looking planet...are we gonna make it 'till 3011? What's gonna happen in 2012? Will the earth be destroyed??? According to the Mayas, earth is going to be destroyed on december 21st, 2012...I think it won't get destroyed. We will become slaves of extra terrestrials.
Read what theoretical physicist and cosmologist Stephen Hawkin says about this matter!

Just another analog picture, taken by me at my sisters. :)

I don't care if I'm gonna be jailed
-sigh-
I discover new (and very good!) photographers on the Flickr website on a daily basis...it's unreal! The competition is extremely fierce among photographers and there are so many of 'em out there. It is hard to stand out from this group, who are all trying to get THE picture which will make them famous. I love taking pics myself but it's getting slow when it comes to getting worldwide recognition.
I know it's not coming my way when I'm not doing anything about it...so...I gotta take some risks in life.
Me and my sister have been 'working on' this project for the past two or so years, and I don't want to wait another whole year to start with it...so I gotta work on it!!
Actually it's a project just in our heads, but we've never started it because it involves 'violating privacy rights'...hahaha. Also, it should be dark outside as it is an outdoor project. No studio work. We use the real shit right here! All taken outside on the streets and lowlight with only street lighting! So, that's why I'm glad the days are getting shorter right now and it's already dark around 5:30pm...
I'm sure when this project will be published in book form...me and her will be called the most original and daring photographers in the world. Hehehehehehe....
My sister is too busy to upload her photography work on the net...so that's why I'm gonna do it. Hahaha...

Pic taken by my sister...! (Sis and her Spanish friend in the background...)
-will upload some new pics on my flickr this weekend!-

Black White in the mirror
I better stop taking pictures because my sister is becoming a way better photographer than me...damnnnn!

Perhaps it has something to do with the kind of (vintage, of course) camera (our mother's camera!!) and the special black & white film she used.
Isn't this the best picture you've ever seen on this whole blog? It's ridiculously beautiful. Taken by my sister in Spain.
Thanks sis...for making me feel bad...yet, giving me new inspiration and motivation to become a better 'Moment-freezer' (photographer).

Boat house...house boat. House on water.
Boat on water.
My sister had to babysit her friend's extremely beautiful boat house:
Here are some pics, taken by me ( on film of course. :) ) in the APARTAMENTO Magazine style.

Spanish: "Our Boat"

Living space

Seventies style living room chill spot with a fire place! Can you see my sister in this picture?
More pictures coming soon on my personal website.
I'll keep ya up to date! Or become my buddy on Facebook. Or follow me (I will get the new iPhone soon, and then I'll post a thousand TWITTER messages per hour) on Twitter.
My Flickr, if you wanna check out some other pics taken with the Rollei 35 S. :)

Sister in the kitchen
...lately I've been shooting solely with my Rollei 35 S camera and it's getting very addicting like never before. Probably because of the surprise feeling I get, every time I pick up the developed pictures at my favorite photo shop in Amsterdam East. It's probably better than every drug in the world. I love that feeling.
I used to live right around the corner of the photo shop, but now I have to cycle through the whole city of Amsterdam (30 minutes!!) to get there. But it's worth every mile.

Sister (and her oversized beige American Apparel sweater) in her kitchen. Cooking dinner. For me.

Onverwachts kreeg ze een 'voldoende' van de beoordelingscommissie. Goed hè?
I helped out my sister at her artschool on the 'big-of-a-deal-before-Christmas-break'! day. Unexpectedly she received the highest out of three 'grades' (sufficient, doubt, insufficient): sufficient...despite receiving a lot of critiques.
Here are a few pics of her work, all taken at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam.

Her favorite style...lines, lines, lines, lines and more lines.

It took me a half an hour to put it all back into the shoebox. This whole creation was like, 30 feet (9 / 10 meters) long!!

The artist herself. And her paper hand.

Phoenix - Live at Trouw, Amsterdam
Thursday, 4th of june.

This band called Phoenix (from France!) played at Trouw, which is located at the end of my street. ;)
I thought we would be late for the concert but my sister works there, so no waiting in line for us as we could go straight to the entrance! It probably saved us at least 30 minutes of waiting outside as the concert was completely sold out!

- Phoenix - If I Ever Feel Better (2000) -
I´ve been listening to their music non-stop...but I need new music!
Who is your favorite artist / band at the moment? Please give me some names or myspace url´s, youtube url´s, etc.! Thanks!
I will post more pictures of this concert, later this week!

Golden oldies
Hi,

- Richard Avedon, self portrait, august 20th, 1980 -
My apologies for the lack of posts. This week has been quite hectic for me already and it's only wednesday! And it's going to be more hectic this weekend! I'll tell you more about it, later this week. Or maybe even next week!

- And of course, another bike picture. :) -
So, I haven't made any fresh & interesting pics lately, but hopefully I will have lots of cool pics for my lovely, loyal readers (you) after this busy weekend. I also notice the decreasing numbers of visits of my blog, everytime I haven't posted anything new....(oh noooo!). So therefore, I'll post some 'older' pics (which were taken between februari and somewhere middle march), instead of letting you wait a whole week for a new post.

- I forgot the name of this person...such a shame, because I really like this portrait! Taken, sneakily, at FOAM Museum -

- Artmarket day!. -
Have a nice week(end)!! TTYL!

Open dag - Rietveld Academie - Amsterdam
- Open day - Rietveld Academy -
Yesterday, I went to the Open Day of the Rietveld Academy. Lots of things were going on, on every department of the building. There was even a rockband playing in a very small room in a different building. The Rietveld Academy is quite a prestigious Art School; many people think it's the best of the country, other people think it's not a good art school at all because of the way of teaching.
Anyhow, I've seen a lot of interesting people, and I think 60% of all the students are not Dutch. Haha.

- Button's and scetches -

- Architecture -
Eva & Eefje
These two cutiepies are fashion students. Eva (curly hair girl) studies at Rietveld and Eefje (short hair...love it!) studies in Arnhem at ArtEZ, another prestigious art school. The same school were Viktor & Rolf graduated in 1992. Click on the pictures for a better view.

- How cute. -

- I should've asked another picture of Eefje's outfit under her beautiful coat...I think it was a one-whole-white-suit -

- One of many fashion creations -

Slecht nieuws
- bad news -
Some more bad news for me. My lens has broken in parts as I have accidentally dropped my bag (with the camera inside) on the road while waiting for the traffic lights to go green.
So no fresh pics 'till next week as I have ordered a new lens. More money spending like water...I'm so broke as a joke, it's unreal!
Here are some pics I've made yesterday while walking around my neighbourhood. It's also the very last day of my 'living' lens...which wasn't broken yet.

- This is a cute little store on the famous 'Albert Cuypmarkt', in Albert Cuypstraat. :) -

- Welcome to my...'district'

- Part of my street -

Chagrijnig
- being cranky / bad mood -
Oh nooo...2009 already started bad for me. I have received The Blue Envelope from 'De Belastingdienst' (tax company). Which means good or bad news. OF COURSE it was BAD news for me and now I have to pay A LOT of taxes...Bitches! I was gonna save up some money for a new iMac but nooo.
I have to pay almost one third of the price of a new iMac. Boy oh boy. It's hard being Jack Daniel. Always struggling in life.
(I also had a flat tire, so I had to bring my bike all the way to a bike...thingy! Bikestore / Bike-repare-store / Bike-garage.)
Anyways. My sister cheered me up by telling me all these stories of people she knows being in bigger (financial) problems than me and took me to a nice place called Latei. Perhaps my fellow blogger and only regular Dutch visitor of my blog, The Man Who Knew Too Much, knows this cozy place. He probably does...hence his name. He knows a lot...
Check out these pics I made during my crankyness-mood to happiness-mood. Amsterdam is the right city which can make you smile again, even when you're in a very depressing mood and struggling hard to survive.
Thanks Mokum!

- There were these different lamps (for sale!) hanging on the ceiling. -

- Cups, boards, plates. Almost everything you see in this lunch / breakfast place was for sale. -

- Then, after lunch we walked into an unexpected Asian event: I think the Dragons are supposed to move the bad spirits out of the houses. But only the places where they had how do you call this in english? for the Dragons. -

- Hanging up the food which the Dragons had to eat. -

- Cute Dragon. -

- My sister. Scared like a mouse of what's coming up next! -

- Firecrackers! -

- And then we moved along. Walking over the little bridges to cross the canals. -

- Of course, we came across lots and lots of bicycles! -

- Almost near our place. This picture (of Sarphatistreet) was taken when we were walking through Sarphatipark.. -
