Devil In a New Dress

Ah....,

Mr West just released a new track and it's called Devil In a New Dress.
Finally a tune which is worth listening to...I didn't really liked his (overhyped?) first single 'Power' of his new soon-to-be-released fifth studio album: Dark Twisted Fantasy (formerly known as Good Ass Job).
I like this new track because it carries an old skool vibe with this haunting female vocal sample. :)

Picture by Scott Schuman aka The Sartorialist

Check out the tune by pressing the play button. :)

(Oh...and you can even download it here, if you wanna feed your iPod / iPhone / iMac (or oldskool PC...) with some new cool music.)
But...you're probably not into Hip Hop, am I right? What's YOUR favorite kinda music? :P I bet you only listen to Lady Gaga ....

Cop dat shit

Ugh...

I know, I know...I'm not a cool blogger anymore. I've been around the web you know: facebook, facebook, flickr, facebook, flickr, but I just didn't know what to post on my blog. You see...I'm actually not a blogger at all. I just like to wander 'round my city and do things I shouldn't be doing, or go to cool events, parties or just hanging out with my buddies. And occasionally post some pics of these things on the blog. But, lately, I feel like I should be spending some more time and energy on the things I really LOVE: photography and music.

-SIGH- I'm losing my visitors (!!!) and it's all my own fault. But, I don't care about the amount of (unique) visitors per day...I just wanna read comments on my posts. That's all. :) I'm longing for e-mails and comments on my blog. Hahaha.

Enough bla bla bla...let's do someting naughty:

My and my sister on Skype...while listening to Tame Impala. (Taken with Olympus OM-10 and some cool Lomography cross over film)

Tame Impala is a psychedelic rockband from Australia. I wish they would come out to play in my city because they are just the best. And this is coming from a hiphop & electronic music lover pur sang. :)
Click here to download their album Innerspeaker and their self titled EP. I've been playing their album non-stop for months now and it's one of a few albums on which I don't have to skip a song. Because e-v-e-r-y song is...excellent. If you're into good music...listen to this!!

(Preview here...'Make Up Your Mind')

By the way, I've been posting new pictures on my flickr...

Terrible blogger! Terrible!

I have become a terrible blogger...forgive me for not posting in such a long time.

But I've been in a...not so good situation lately. In my previous post, I already told you about me being infected with the deadly H1N1 virus. Luckily I've survived this intruder from outer space who was trying to take over my whole body...and soul!

When I was in the middle of my sickness-period, I've had thoughts of dying...!
But I'm back in blog-world! I still have extremely busy days ahead of me but there's at least one positive news...you'll see more pictures on this blog than ever before! I actually don't really have the time to write blogposts...I'm a bad writer anyways, so perhaps I should only post pictures.

(re-) Starting today:

I went to a concert of The Raveonettes exactly one week ago. I finally get to see them live after listening to their music almost non-stop since my stay in Sweden, nearly two years ago! (Time flies!)

Feels good to make a new post...perhaps I should do a blog make over...?

Passion Pit @ Paradiso

After waiting for almost 4 months (!!), they finally came back to Amsterdam. I'm talking about the american band called Passion Pit. In juli, the leadsinger Michael Angelakos lost his voice and the band decided (a few hours before their performance!) to cancel the Amsterdam-concert in the Paradiso.
I discovered them through Last.fm radio, so I gotta give Last.fm props for that. But I also HATE them because I only have 30 tracks left on their radio account! And they won't allow me to listen to it again until I pay €3.00/month!!

Anyway, here are some pics of the night...have a nice week(end)!

I think he broke his arm after he jumped from the drummer's section to the front stage...

Thanks Passion Pit.

By the way, I have been awarded a Splash Award by Dominica from Faces and Places of of Antwerp. Probably the most exciting city of Belgium...yes or no?
I feel so honored! I'm serious here.

Phoenix - Live at Trouw, Amsterdam

Thursday, 4th of june.

This band called Phoenix (from France!) played at Trouw, which is located at the end of my street. ;)
I thought we would be late for the concert but my sister works there, so no waiting in line for us as we could go straight to the entrance! It probably saved us at least 30 minutes of waiting outside as the concert was completely sold out!

- Phoenix - If I Ever Feel Better (2000) -

I´ve been listening to their music non-stop...but I need new music!
Who is your favorite artist / band at the moment? Please give me some names or myspace url´s, youtube url´s, etc.! Thanks!

I will post more pictures of this concert, later this week!

Artmarket (Part 3) - Final Part

Hello,

This is (probably) going to be the last Artmarket post. I do have some other pictures left, but I'm really picky about them.

If you have missed the previous parts. Check 'm out:

Here for part 1.
And here for part 2.

- This 'painting' is so cute, yet very scary. Two girls forming a skull. -

- Girl with an (as we call it) 'Arafat' scarf and a leather jacket-man. -

- This pic was taken in the same 'gallery' as this one. -

Andy Warhol's lost son...(my sister told me that this girl (with red hat) and boy (with red scarf) are two world famous photographers. I forgot their names. Bummer!)

Speaking of Andy Warhol, he's alive and he has his own blog. I think it's the funniest blog of all the blogs I follow.
Normally I don't 'promote' other websites, but for this one, I make an exception. I hope he leaves a comment on this post. :)

Andy Warhol's Journal
Read the description under his profile picture. Super hilarious!!

Cowboys & Indians Party - Part 1

Ahhh yeah...,

After almost a half year of no partying in our building, my lovely neighbours from the third floor, 'R.' & 'S.' organised a birthday party (my neighbour 'R.' his b-day was in februari). Everyone got dressed up according to the party's theme: Cowboys & Indians! At first I was like...'oh noooo! I don't like theme-parties!'. But I actually had a really great time with my housemate, neighbours and new (facebook)friends. :P

- The invitation and my outfit at the party: checkered shirt, black bandana, GUN, dark blue navy jeans, white tank shirt. -

I helped out my neighbour with the set up of the party in the afternoon; moving furniture, clean up the mess, etc. He wanted to place the doll (which he found on the street) on the first floor to welcome the guests.

- Miss Little Black Eyed Nellie -

Before you continue, checking out the pics of the party, the first thing I would like you to do is to click on the flashy mp3 player and catch the vibe of the party, which I have recorded.

- Recorded music , vibe, conversations of the party -

- Miss Little Black Eyed Nellie Is Not Satisfied-

- My neighbour 'R' and australian dude 'T'! -

- Just hanging out in the kitchen. There's always a kitchen-party at 'house-parties'! -

-My other lovely neighbour 'S'! Such a sweet chick! (And crazy, I love that!). -

- Crazy peeps! -

- 'G' & 'N' (Australia) (Doesn't he look like this dude from A Clockwork Orange? Creepy shit!)-

Part 2, later this week!

Goedkope boeken om de hoek

- Cheap books around the corner -

Question for the non-Dutch visitors: Can you pronounce the title of this post?

:D

These were taken on the night when me and my friend Danique came back from a Lykke Li's concert, last december.
Before we went inside, we took a look, right around the corner from where I live, at some old books that are always placed on a stand, outside of the booksellers house...
Yes you read that right! Books, just placed outside of the house...and the bookseller is sleeping (INSIDE of course!)!
(I think he lives on the first floor, because there are only paintings and books in the room on the groundfloor.)
I still don't know where he gets his books from, because there are always new books (second hand, perhaps even third hand) everyday.

- If you look at the window...you can see books and an artpiece behind it... -

If you want to become the owner of the book, just shove a Euro coin through the mailbox and it's yours. Of course you can steal allll these beautiful books, because there's no one on the lookout, the bookseller is not watching you with a camera or standing behind the window 24/7. That would be ridiculous.

He trusts his 'customers'. It's a bit contradictive because there is a saying about Dutch people: 'If it's free, we take advantage of it'.
But not here...that's why I LOVE my neighbourhood. It's the best part of Amsterdam. I'm sure my fellow countryman 'The Man Who Knew Too Much' doesn't agree. Haha. Or maybe he does...

Anyhow:

- The text on the left sign says: 'each book €1,- S.V.P. (french for 's'il vous plait meaning 'please') €1,- in the mailbox'. ' 'Open every saturday from 2 until 6 o'clock'. And the right sign says: 'Everything €1,- a piece!' -

My sister keeps coming home with new books almost every day. Hahahaha. And I'm disciplined enough not to take a look at them, everytime I walk pass by these lovely babies when going to the supermarket...

Mediamatic - R.I.P. exhibition

A photographer went to Harlem, NYC, and photographed the dead people in their coffins. Yesterday was the opening of this exhibition in Medimatic in Vijzelstraat!

- Death people in their coffins -

- Mediamatic was founded by Willem Velthoven (man with the microphone and Jans Possel (lady in white with photo-camera)) -

- You could also go to Heaven with the roller stairs. Once in 'Heaven', there was a small exhibition of coffins made in Ghana, Africa -

- Nike shoe coffin! -

- Oh my GOD. It's Mudboy and he creates the most dreamy music I've ever heard. If you're either drunk or 'high on crack', I think he can put you in a trance with his music and kidnap you to his hometown Portland, Rhode Island.-

- Party 'till 1am. -

More pics will be uploaded to my personal website

Lekker dansen tot je erbij neervalt

- dance 'till you drop -

So me and Dennis aka The Man Who Knew Too Much (way, way waaaay too much) went out shooting.
Yes, we went out. Shooting.

So, as you all know (I'm talking to the readers who've already seen and read Dennis' blog about this night) at the beginning of the night, there was a concert by Einstein Barbie. I didn't expect them to be this good. I really, really liked their music. Actually, their live performance was more uplifting and funky than the music you can listen to on their website.

For more pics. Just check out Dennis' blog. Or...you can just stay on my blog and check out the pictures all over and over and over again. :)

Have a nice day!

And remember, no regrets this year, okay? It's only the 5th day of this new year...take risks! My year already started bad. But...when looking at these pics, you can tell I've also already exprienced some very, very good moments.

- Blowing bells. -

- When I was taking this picture, people were shouting and getting crazy about this solo-part of this lil lady. She was amazing. -

- She was cuuute. -

- Rocking boy -

- And all of a sudden...out of nowhere, there were these dancers on stage...dancing like there was no tomorrow. -

- Girl, boy, girl. -

- Martin Duvall aka Martin C. de Waal -

- A boy. Yes...a boy! Getting down on a girl...on stage. How lovely! -

- It looks like three different pictures, photoshopped in one. But that's not the case right here. It's one picture and the colours aren't added in photoshop either (Lights in the club!). Sometimes, blurry pics are niiice! This one is actually one of my personal fave's! It reminds me of a fashion shoot of photographer Steven Meisel's student. I can't remember his name-

Special thanks to The Man Who Knew Too Much for making my day.
